GLR Week 2021

July 26-30

GLR Week 2021 explored the many ways in which the GLR Network stepped up to meet the moment when confronted by COVID-19. They took action to strengthen relationships between parents and teachers, deployed education technology in new and innovative ways, engaged new partners and approaches to increase digital access, advanced policy and practice reforms that can bring about a better “new normal” and so much more. Thank you to all who engaged in the dozens of online sessions and to those who shared nominees for “bright spots, silver linings” and post-pandemic “keepers.”

GLR Week 2021 By the Numbers

We Thank the Following Organizations for Their Contribution to GLR Week 2021 Plenary Sessions

GLR Week State Activities

Twenty-four states stepped up to organize and host 43 virtual events, including webinars, documentary screenings, panel discussions, trainings and story times during GLR Week 2021. CGLR would like to offer its deep appreciation to the state and local leaders for their creativity and commitment in responding to COVID-19 and for all their efforts to engage diverse stakeholder coalitions to ensure children in economically disadvantaged families achieve early school success and reading proficiency. Stay tuned as CGLR works to gather recordings and resources from these sessions and posts them on this site.

Lifting Up National Partners and Celebrating United Ways

GLR Week 2021 began with a Gratitude Reception featuring CGLR’s decade-long partnership with United Way Worldwide and United Ways across the nation. In total, 205 local United Ways are part of GLR coalitions, with more than 100 serving in Community Lead roles, and more than 60 United Way organizations attended GLR Week plenary events.

We celebrate and commend the collective effort, energy and endorsement of United Way Worldwide and over 100 other national sector and field-leading organizations and affiliate networks, who self-identify as CGLR partners, allies and champions and who have extended our reach, amplified our messaging and enhanced our ability to find and support workable solutions.

THANKS TO THE 205 GLR COMMUNITY UNITED WAYS!

#GLRKeeper Highlights

CGLR appreciates the generous support of our funders from 2012–2021

Over the past 10 years, more than 5,000 local agencies, organizations and institutions and 100+ sector- and field-leading organizations and affiliate networks have taken a stand and joined with CGLR to ensure that children in economically disadvantaged families can succeed in school and graduate prepared for college, a career and active citizenship. As noted in our 2016 report, Toward Bigger Outcomes, “the single development of which we are most proud and most hopeful is that over 450 United Ways, community foundations, public charities corporate giving programs and individual funders have stepped up to provide dollars, leadership and voice to early learning and early school success in their local communities and home states.”

Our “national” Enterprise Investors are equally appreciative of the demonstrable leverage local philanthropy represents. We sincerely thank and appreciate the national funders that have joined us in our work since our launch.
